Pompeii, Herculaneum and Vesuvius

Pompeii – Herculaneum – Vesuvius (8 hours)

Visiting the ruins of Pompeii is a real fascinating experience. Although less famous than Pompeii, the Herculaneum excavations represent its natural completion. The excavation of two ancient settlements, while showing Roman cities of the same period, show substantial differences that require the keen tourist to visit both.
Pompei was almost completely excavated and this gives an overview of how an ancient Roman city could be during the Tiberius reign. The ancient Herculaneum instead has not been fully excavated because in the same area the new city has been built, and therefore many public buildings are missing, but the details are much better preserved.
The majesty of Vesuvius does a completely different effect. You can walk the streets of Pompeii of 2000 years ago, destroyed by the eruption of Vesuvius, and you can achieve the volcano at 1.000 meters. For this excursion you’ll have to wear suitable and comfortable shoes and to be prepared for a nonordinary, but certainly worthy, adventure.
